Just a few pics and a few lines to check this is all working.
Steve and I left for Ashby on Friday evening. Other than failing to meet up at our original rendezvous point, it was an uneventful ride of around 3 hours. Steves mum had cooked an enormous lasagne, of which we both had double helpings before heading out for a few beers with Steves Dad.
Slightly fuzzy and after a big breakfast courtesy of Steves Mum we headed off with Steves' Uncle Dave flanking us on his Triumph Daytona 955. We stopped in at GA Wells in Shepshed and had our seats re-upholstered. The extra padding gave us about an extra hour before our arses started protesting! From there we headed North towards Edinburgh.
After several fuel stops (for us and the bikes) we arrived in Edinburgh around 7pm. We changed and went out to a local Italian restaurant with my parents. They hated it! The food wasn't bad, if rather slow to arrive and looking a little small after Steve's mums huge lasagne the night before. The accoustics of the place however were dreadful and we all struggled to hear each other over the echo's of fifty other diners all suffering similarly!
We woke on Sunday morning to a big beakfast of Bacon, Eggs and Scottish square Lorne sausage which set us up for the drive South. We left Edinburgh and headed North towards the Forth Bridges for a photo opportunity and to grab a quick coffee and "hello" with my sister before turning South again and aiming for Cockermouth in Cumbria.
Half an hour South of Edinburgh, our spell of good weather broke and it rained hard the rest of our journey. We arrived at Nic and Lins cold and wet and both very grateful for the stop. True to form, Nic was out in the back garden sheltering from the rain under a gazebo and stoking up a barbecue! An hour and several warming coffees later we sat down to freshly barbecued burgers and sausages
